The Inland Revenue Department says that 2 lakh new taxpayers have been registered during the past year. Its Commissioner General Rukdevi Fernando stated that 18,000 new companies have been registered during that period.

“This year, the Inland Revenue Department was given an 18% higher revenue target compared to last year. Last week, the Inland Revenue Department was able to achieve the highest revenue target in history of Rs. 2 trillion and achieve a revenue of Rs. 2,080 billion. At this time, the Inland Revenue Department has achieved a revenue of Rs. 2,080 billion.” She said.
