Traffic fines only through govPay.

A progress review discussion on the projects and programs implemented in 2026 related to the Digital Economy Ministry was held at the Presidential Secretariat today (19) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

It was revealed that the first digital identity card will be issued by the end of this year and that all traffic fines will be paid only through govPay from this September, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Media Division.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has also instructed officials during the discussion to focus on establishing the IT service as an island-wide service for the IT needs of the public service in a way that can provide a strong contribution to the government’s digital transformation process.

The President’s Media Division also stated that the progress of the projects and programs currently being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Economy and its subordinate institutions under the government’s program to increase Sri Lanka’s digital economy to $30 billion by 2030 was also discussed extensively.
