The Ministry of Transport and Highways has reportedly decided to issue temporary driving licenses to foreign visitors arriving at the Katunayake Airport.
According to reports, the Ministry has decided to set up a dedicated counter at the Katunayake Airport for this purpose.
The Ministry is reported to intend to officially launch the new procedure with effect from August 3rd this year.
According to the existing regulations, foreign tourists must obtain a temporary driving license from the Werahera Motor Transport Department office. The new measure aims to streamline the process and improve the convenience of tourists, the Ministry of Transport said.
