Tourism revenue declines in August

Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange earnings from tourism fell by 8.2% in August. The total amount earned by Sri Lanka from the tourism industry in August last year (2024) was US$ 282.1 million. However, this year’s August has decreased to US$ 258.9 million, according to a latest report released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, compared to the first eight months of last year (2024), tourism revenue in the first eight months of this year (2025) has increased by 5.7 percent from US$ 2167 million to US$ 2290 million, the Central Bank said.
