Milinda Rajapaksa of the Bahujan Balaya organization said that information is being reported on social media that Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna General Secretary Tilvin Silva was beaten up inside the party office and has been hospitalized.
At a press conference held today (09), he said that he was shocked by the news that an elderly politician, Tilvin Silva, had been attacked, and that he wished that such trouble would not befall him and wished him a speedy recovery.
Milinda Rajapaksa also made a serious criticism of the country’s current political culture and the process of administering justice.
In the past, state leaders emphasized on how to reduce the prices of essential goods on election platforms, but the current president says from the platforms that a certain person will be imprisoned on a specific date and that the people should applaud for it, Milinda Rajapaksa said.
Milinda Rajapaksa points out that the authorities are telling people who are to be imprisoned, “If you can’t go to jail, commit suicide,” and this is confirmed even by the affidavits submitted to the courts today.
He alleged that the repression has now reached such a level that people who are waiting for justice think suicide is a good thing.
Also, Pera Tilvin Silva, who was allegedly attacked, reminded Milinda Rajapaksa that “there will be no other governments from now on, and those who form other governments will be treated as if they are committing suicide.”
