The Meteorological Department has announced that there may be occasional showers in the Northern, North-Central, Uva and Eastern provinces as well as in the Central province.
The Department stated that showers or thundershowers are likely to occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts after 1.00 pm. The Department of Meteorology also states that there is a possibility of heavy showers exceeding 50 mm in some places.
The Department of Meteorology also stated that foggy conditions can be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and the Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts during the early hours of the morning.
The Department also urges the public to take steps to prevent accidents caused by lightning and strong winds.
Showers are possible in the sea areas from Mannar to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai, and showers are expected in other sea areas around the island in the evening or at night, and the winds will blow from the northeast and the speed will be between 25-35 kilometers per hour.
However, it is also informed that the sea areas from Chilaw to Kankesanthurai and from Galle to Pottuvil may be rough as the wind speed may increase to 45 kilometers per hour at times.
