A recent census has revealed that there are 5.1 million monkeys and 1.7 million other monkeys in Sri Lanka. It has also been found that the population of macaques is 2.6 million. The population of peacocks is 4.2 million.
Deputy Minister Namal Karunaratne, who revealed this information in Parliament, said that only Rs. 3.8 million was spent on the census.
