The Supreme Court gives its opinion on the Cyber Security Act.

Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa said in Parliament today that the Supreme Court has decided that the Online Security Bill or its provisions are not against the Constitution. He stated this while announcing the decision sent to the Parliament by the Supreme Court on the Act on Online Methods.

The Supreme Court has informed the Parliament that certain clauses of the Security of Online Systems Bill must be passed by a special majority in the Parliament.

The Supreme Court further states that this Act can be passed by a simple majority in the Parliament if the few clauses in question are amended at the time of the Committee.
