A female student of the Colombo International School fell to her death from the viewing room of the Lotus Tower in Colombo yesterday evening, police said. The police said they are currently investigating whether it was a suicide attempt or an accident. The deceased is a 15-year-old student studying in the 11th grade.
The police further stated that a pair of shoes and a school bag were found on the floor where the girl had fallen, which contained her examination papers.
The Colombo Lotus Tower Management Company (Private) has confirmed that according to CCTV footage, the girl fell from the 29th floor of the tower and landed on the concrete roof of the third floor of the Lotus Tower.
The girl came alone and bought a ticket to visit the observation room.
