“The Sri Lankan government does not care about what we say,” says UNHRC.

The High Commissioner of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Volker Turk, expressed regret that the Government of Sri Lanka has rejected certain proposals put forth by the Council regarding accountability.

He made these remarks at the commencement of the 53rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva yesterday. However, despite Sri Lanka’s rejection of these proposals, he emphasized that the council continues to maintain relations with the country.

The session, which began on the 19th, is scheduled to run until July 14th.
