The Sri Lanka Army neglected the responsibility of protecting the state.

Udaya Gammanpila, the leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumya, says that the Sri Lanka Army did not fulfill its responsibilities during the last struggle.

He added that since the raid on the President’s house on May 9, when houses were set on fire across the country and a member of parliament was beaten to death, the armed forces watched silently.

He mentions that he also accepts the accusation that the army neglected its responsibilities in the book written by the former president Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, written by the member of parliament Udaya Gammanpila, who says that the army is obliged to protect the head of state regardless of his policies.

He mentioned this in an interview with a weekend newspaper.
