Shanakyan Rasamanikkam, a member of parliament from the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi Party, expressed his displeasure over the discussion held with President Anura Dissanayake on the 19th.
He said that he did not receive a definite answer from the President to any of the issues raised by his party during the discussion.
He said that he had sent a letter to the President stating that a political solution for the North and East under a new constitution was needed, and as a result, he was invited to this discussion. However, he said that he did not receive any definite answer except to say, “Let’s see, let’s do, let’s think.”
He said that although political issues from the Bandaranaike-Chelvanayake Accord to the Indo-Lanka Accord were presented to the President, President Anura Dissanayake did not express a definite opinion on bringing a new constitution or a political solution. However, he also says that the President is aware of the problem.
