The National Police Commission has decided to cancel the transfer of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana to the Eastern Province by changing the controversial transfers given by the Inspector General of Police yesterday.
Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana has given his written objection to the National Police Commission saying that this transfer which was given under the cover approval of the Police Commission is illegal. The Police Commission has decided to cancel his transfer and transfer him to the police headquarters without any assignment until the protest is considered.
The transfer of seven DIGs yesterday has already caused unrest in the police service. It is reported that most of the senior DIGs who have been transferred are qualified to become the next IGP.
