An investigation team headed by the former Vice-Chancellor Emeritus Professor Atula Senaratne of Peradeniya University says that the mysterious sound emanating from the stadium in Heduneu wewa area of Kotmale is due to an internal flood.
The professor said that since the area used to have a lake, there is an underground water seepage, which is not a serious situation at present, but there is a tendency for it to become a serious situation in the future.
In the last few days, people have been demanding that a loud noise is coming from the ground of the stadium located in Hadunuwewa Wethalawa area of Kothmale and to find out about it and provide a quick solution. Accordingly, at the request of Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Nandana Galabada, Peradeniya university and Geology and Mining Unit officials came and conducted this investigation.
