The Homagama factory that caught fire last night has not received an environmental permit

The Central Environment Authority says that an environmental license has not been obtained for the factory destroyed by the fire in Homagama Katuwana Industrial Estate, which was destroyed by fire last night.

In a press conference held today (18), its spokesperson Ajith Weerasundara stated that the fire that broke out in the chemical factory has damaged the atmosphere and the surrounding environment due to the mixing of our water.

He said that the administration of the industrial city is also responsible for the failure to issue proper permits for the relevant factory and warehouses which have been operating since last December.
