It is reported that the people of the North have started celebrating the ‘Maha Viru’ Day celebrations since the 20th. Accordingly, this year’s ‘Maha Viru Day is scheduled to be held for a week until the 27th. During this time, people are expected to commemorate those who died in the war at cemeteries near their homes or in community halls, light candles and garland the photographs of those who died in the war.
The main ceremony of this Maha Viru’ Day Commemoration will be held on the evening of the 27th in front of the special monument located in Mullivaikal, Mullaitivu and will be organized by the University of Jaffna.
