The Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said that the paddy bought from the farmers this season will be turned into rice and distributed to the low income earners from tomorrow (27).
He added that the program aims to support local farmers and ensure food security for families in need.
In addition, the government has decided to provide 10 kg of rice per month to every family for a period of 2 months. According to the request, the distribution will be done in several districts including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Ratnapura, Galle, and Matara.
