Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that the government has not yet made a firm decision to withdraw from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.
He made these remarks while speaking at the press briefing held today (29) to announce Cabinet decisions. Elaborating further, the Minister stated that while some projections have been successfully realized, targets for others have not yet been met. However, he noted that a decision could be made at the appropriate time after taking into account prevailing global and economic conditions.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Housing Construction and Water Supply T.B. Sarath recently stated at a program that Sri Lanka is set to exit the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program by the end of 2027.
He mentioned that the government intends to provide further relief to the public once it exits the IMF program. However, when Minister Nalinda Jayatissa was questioned about this matter at today’s media briefing on Cabinet decisions, he stated that no firm decision has been made regarding this yet.
