The government bought only six lorries of paddy last season.

Former Minister Mahinda Amaraweera states that the government, which boasted of cleaning out paddy warehouses around the country, has purchased only six lorries of paddy from farmers today.

Accordingly, he said, the government is now saying that if rice is not enough, it will import it from abroad.

When previous governments imported rice from abroad, they said that the country would be handed over to a moneylender in Pettah, and today they should say that the country should be handed over to Dudley Sirisena, he said.

He said this while addressing a public meeting held in the Embilipitiya area.
