It is reported that the Prisons Department has decided to conduct the proceedings of the inmates transferred from Negombo Prison to other prisons through video technology.
Accordingly, it has been planned to refer the inmates who are due to face proceedings from tomorrow (13) through video technology, says Prisons Media Spokesperson and Prisons Commissioner A.C. Gajanayake.
The Prisons Department states that this decision was taken as it has become a problem to facilitate the inmates who were transferred to other prisons and the inmates who were sent to court for proceedings due to the recent clash in the Negombo Prison.
A special three-member committee has been appointed to assess the damage caused by the recent clash at the Negombo Prison.
