About 500 people have submitted their views and suggestions during the sessions held to obtain public opinions regarding the third electricity tariff revision for this year.

The Public Utilities Commission began collecting public opinions covering all provinces of the island on September 18, focusing on the Eastern Province.

Its final session was held yesterday (08) at the Bandaranaike Memorial Conference Hall, Colombo, focusing on the Western Province.

The Public Utilities Commission will announce its final decision on the electricity tariff revision early this month, taking into account all the public opinions and suggestions received.

The Ceylon Electricity Board has sought the approval of the Public Utilities Commission to increase electricity tariffs by 6.8%.
