The 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sri Lanka Press Association, the only media organization in Sri Lanka to have completed 70 years, and the D.F. Kariyakarawana Media Tribute Ceremony will be held grandly tomorrow (26) at 7 pm at the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel, Colombo.
The Chief Guest of the ceremony will be the Hon. Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, and this year’s commemoration ceremony will be limited to invited guests only.
A special feature of this year’s ceremony is that, as in previous years, 10 senior journalists and seniors from various fields who have made exceptional contributions to the media sector will be honored with financial donations and an award.
Accordingly, retired former Professor Anura Wickramasinghe, Rosamund Senaratne, Siri Ranasinghe, Indunil Kahawita Amarasekara, Manik de Silva, D. Oliver Silva, Daya de Alwis, Mohamed Abubakar Fakurudeen, Lal Hagoda, and Rashaiya Selvaraja are scheduled to receive honorary awards.
