Hospital sources state that retired Major General Suresh Sallay, the former Director of the State Intelligence Service, was taken from the National Hospital in Colombo to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday afternoon.
Additional Solicitor General Dilipa Peiris, appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday that Sallay would be taken back into CID custody this afternoon.
This announcement was made when ten medical professionals, including the Director of the National Hospital, appeared before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court to report on Suresh Sallay’s health condition.
Suresh Sallay had been admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo on the night of June 7, 2026, following a deterioration in his health while in CID custody, he was subsequently transferred to the hospital’s cardiac unit, where a device was fitted to regulate his heart function.
The Additional Solicitor General informed the court that six recommendations were made regarding Suresh Sallay’s discharge from the hospital: administering prescribed medication on time, housing him in a suitable environment, referring him for medical supervision and clinic visits, providing treatment for any allergic reactions, and referring him to the cardiac unit should any issues arise with the functioning of his implanted cardiac device.
