The letter issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Nugegoda, that the protest march organized by the Faculty of Medicine Students’ Union of Sri Jayawardenepura University on the 18th against the private universities namely LYCEUM, NSBM, GATEWAY, SLIIT, Kothalawala has attracted the attention of human rights activists.
The letter requested the Director General of Health Services to keep Sri Jayawardena Pura, Kalubowila and the National Hospital ready for the necessary treatment of the protesters and security personnel as the protestors may be attacked.
Human rights activists point out that the letter issued with the signature S.S.P, Nugegoda J.P.S Jayamaha, confirms that the police were prepared to seriously attack the protester.
