In relation to the incident of attacking the protestors in Galle Face – Gota Go Gama on May 9, 2022, the mats, generators, baffles and other goods seized by the police from the protest site and kept in the court as case goods will be auctioned within a period of two months and the relevant money deposited in the court. Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera ordered.
The magistrate made this order after asking the suspects if anyone claiming rights to these goods would come forward when the case was called in connection with the incident.
The Criminal Investigation Department informed the court that the case is over and the file has been forwarded to the Attorney General for instructions.
The police informed the court that the one suspect Sanath Nishantha, a Member of Parliament, has died.
The police informed the High Court that 30 suspects out of the 36 suspects including MPs Milan Jayathilaka, Johnston Fernando appeared in the open court and the four suspects Dilruk Madhushan, Supun Harshana, Chandana Piyarathana and Prasad Indika have been charged in different courts. The case is scheduled to be called again on November 6.
