The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today ordered the release on bail of former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Government Commercial (Miscellaneous) Corporation, Hussain Ahmed Bahila, who was arrested by the Bribery Commission.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after considering the arguments presented by the Bribery Commission officers and the suspect’s lawyers.
He was arrested by the Bribery Commission on charges of committing the offence of corruption by violating the procedure to be followed in purchasing goods and services to the relevant corporation in 2015 and importing 50 temporary warehouses without any need, causing a loss of Rs. 99,679,799.70 to the corporation and providing an advantage equal to the value of that amount to outside parties.
