State Minister Diana Gamage will lose her parliamentary seat.

The Supreme Court ruled today that State Minister Diana Gamage is unfit to hold a position as a Member of Parliament.

The Supreme Court gave its decision today and stated that she has no right to hold the position of a Member of Parliament as she did not have the citizenship of Sri Lanka at the time of her election.

With this Supreme Court decision, Diana Gamage will lose her position as a Member of Parliament.

The case was heard before the three-member Supreme Court bench comprising of Gamini Amarasekara, Kumuduni Wickramasinghe and Janak de Silva.

Lawyers Hafeel Faris, Nishika Fonseka and Shannon Thilakaratne appeared for the petitioner Oshala Herath.

President’s lawyer Farman Kasim appeared for Samagi Jana Balawega.
