Sri Lankan cultivation is feeling the heat of war in the Gulf region.

It is reported that the country’s urea fertilizer reserves have been limited due to regional unrest in the Middle East. Accordingly, the Department of Agrarian Development has decided to release the existing urea stocks only for paddy cultivation.

Accordingly, steps have been taken to issue the unmixed urea fertilizer required for cultivation activities in the Yala season only through government agricultural service centers. The department has taken steps to inform all agricultural development officers across the island about how this new program will be implemented.

Here, it has been instructed to provide only the required amount, taking into account the amount of paddy cultivated by each farmer, and fertilizer will be issued only based on decisions made at season meetings and confirmation that paddy is being cultivated.
