Sri Lankan cricketer Jayananda Warnaweera passes away

Former Test cricketer Jayananda Warnaweera has passed away. He was 64 when he died. He entered the cricket field from Mahinda College, Galle and later represented the Galle Cricket Club.

Jayananda Warnaweera, who made his international Test debut against Pakistan in 1986, represented the Sri Lankan ODI and Test teams for over 8 years.

Warnaweera, who was a highly skilled bowler, was a player with a special ability to bowl off-cutters in his own unique style. When he retired from cricket in 1994, he had taken 32 Test wickets and 6 ODI wickets. He later worked as the caretaker of the Galle Cricket Stadium.
