Sri Lanka Telecom to be sold to Subashkaran Aliraja

That the government is working to sell the profit-making state enterprise to fulfill the conditions of the International Monetary Fund. Under that, it is still running successfully Sri Lanka Telecom is in the process of being sold to businessman Subashkaran Aliraja, says MP Wimal Weerawansa.

Aliraja, a British citizen, is the founder of laika Mobile and is also known as a tycoon who has supported the Tamil diaspora.

The MP said that it is a problem why profit-making institutions are being sold and loss-making institutions are being run in the same way.

Meanwhile, the Telecommunication Employees Union has mentioned that two Indian companies, Adani and Lyca Mobile, have held discussions regarding the acquisition of Sri Lanka Telecom.
