The Sri Lanka Cricket Board says that the claims circulating on social media that there is a financial crisis in Sri Lanka Cricket are completely baseless and misleading.
In a statement, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that the cricket administration has sufficient financial stability to manage operations as well as implement long-term strategic programs.
The statement also stated that Sri Lanka Cricket is working successfully to co-host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026 with India and to host 11 matches of the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup scheduled to be held in September this year.
Sri Lanka Cricket pointed out that such plans and implementation can only be done if there is good financial support.
The statement said that international cricket stadiums across the country are being upgraded and renovated to meet global standards and that hosting international matches in the country is a source of pride for the country and will enhance the infrastructure of the country’s cricket.
Sri Lanka Cricket further said that it will also invest in a long-term sustainability initiative through the implementation of solar energy projects at international stadiums.
“This ‘green program’ is designed to provide a strong return on investment while supporting the environment, the future of the game and the long-term financial strength of the organization,” the statement said.
Sri Lanka Cricket further said that it will also work hard to ensure the smooth implementation of the grassroots cricket development program.
Sri Lanka Cricket further emphasized that it is committed to the transparency, progress and development of the game both domestically and internationally.
