Commenting on the parliamentary debate to be held today that the current Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) administration should resign, Raveen Wickramaratne, the vice president of the institution, said that if they are asked to resign, they will seek legal advice.
The Minister of Sports issued a gazette notice on Monday suspending the Sri Lanka Cricket Board. Later, an interim committee headed by Arjuna Ranatunga was appointed for the administration of cricket and against it, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva filed a petition before the Court of Appeal. Then the Court of Appeal issued an order suspending the gazette notice issued by the minister until the petition was heard.
That Sri Lanka Cricket is working to develop four stadiums for the Under-19 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka next year . But when Arjuna Ranatunga left the Sri Lanka Cricket offices, he had given false publicity for the checks written for those expenses. Sri Lanka Cricket Deputy Secretary Krishantha Kapuwatta said.
“Arjuna Ranatunga who came here one day took all those checks and gave a big publicity to this and when we quit Sri Lanka cricket, he is trying to show that crores of checks have been drawn for unauthorized reasons and this is a fraud. We have drawn these checks for the development of stadiums,” he said.
