Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha De Silva said that he got the chairmanship of the State Finance Committee of the Parliament after a tough fight. He further said that some parties tried to prevent him from being appointed to that position.
“After a hard fight, I got the chairmanship of the State Finance Committee again. Due to the direct questioning and heavy interference that I did as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, some people tried very hard to prevent me from being appointed me to that position again. However, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya fought hard to get this position from the opposition and Mr. Sajith Premadasa directly intervened as the leader of the opposition.
Finally, the President himself proposed my name again for that position. I am thankful to everyone who has placed their trust in me and I am committed to continue serving the country directly and honestly in this committee,” he said.
