It is reported that the cabinet has approved to take alternative decisions for power generation and to release the water required for agricultural activities from the samanalawewa reservoir.
According to this, the Minister of State for Power and Energy DV Chanaka stated that the necessary arrangements have been made to provide the maximum amount of water required for agriculture from the Samanalawewa Reservoir.
Four alternative proposals have been discussed to find out the possibility of continuously providing electricity and water for agricultural activities under the unexpected rainless weather condition and releasing water for drinking purposes and all those proposals have been presented to the Cabinet this evening by Minister Kanchana Wijesekera.
