Serious Accusation Against A.K.D for Misuse of Public Resources

A complaint has been submitted to the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission against National People’s Power presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The complainant alleges that Dissanayake has committed an act of corruption by misusing public resources.

The Civil Citizens’ Struggle Movement lodged this complaint, alleging that Anura Dissanayake’s misappropriation of state property has been confirmed through the declaration of assets he submitted as a presidential candidate.

Roshan Karavanella, the convener of the association, claims that Dissanayake reserved a parliamentary residence by posing as a member of parliament and has confirmed his ineligibility for that residence through the asset and liability statements he submitted.

After filing the complaint, Karavanella disclosed the relevant documents and detailed information on his social media account.

According to Roshan Karavanella, the complaint was filed today with the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission under Section 43 of the Anti-Corruption Act.

Anura Kumara Dissanayake currently occupies an official residence in the Madiwela Parliament complex. However, a member of Parliament is only entitled to an official residence if neither they nor their spouse owns a house within 40 km of Parliament. Dissanayake’s statement of assets and liabilities indicates that his wife owns a house in Kadawatha, Rammuthugala, which is only 28.5 km from Parliament.
