National People’s Party presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who rejected President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s challenge for a debate attended by officials of the International Monetary Fund, made a fresh challenge to the President for a face-to-face debate on economic policies.
Addressing a public meeting in Ambalantota area, he said that this debate can be organized by a popular TV channel and anything related to the economic policies of the two parties can be debated.
“President Wickremesinghe is asking me questions from the stage. So I challenged him to an open debate. Then he said that he will come with the IMF. Will the IMF contest the elections . Ranil is making irresponsible statements.
Some claim that the economy will collapse after the NPP comes to power. The economy has already collapsed. The NPP is taking the country to rebuild the economy that collapsed due to failed policies in the last 76 years.” He said.
