The Department of Meteorology has announced that the wind speed in the sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota will increase to (50-60) kmph. In addition, the said sea areas may be rough or very rough at times.
The said statement further states that there is a possibility of sea wave height increasing to about (2.5 – 3.5) meters in the sea areas off the coast from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
Due to this, there is a possibility of sea waves reaching land in the areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
The Department of Meteorology has requested the fishing and naval community to be vigilant in this regard.
