The statement made by the Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Sagara Kariyawasam, at a news conference held at the Nelum Mawatha party office recently regarding the removal of Keheliya Rambukwella from the post of Health Minister, has caused a lot of controversy in the political arena.
He said in the press conference that all the allegations against Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella were proved to be false, but it is reported that no such investigation has been conducted on the Health Minister. A senior member of the said party, said that this statement by Sagara Kariyawasam, Secretary General of Podujana Peramuna, knowing that no such investigation was conducted, is ridiculous.
He further said that although only the motion of no confidence brought by the opposition against Minister Keheliya Rambukwella was won by the majority of votes in Parliament, it was not an investigation into the allegations against him.
In such a situation, Sagara Kariyawasam, a responsible political party’s general secretary, came to the public media and disseminated false information that misleads the people, he said.
