The Police Narcotics Bureau has been able to find receipts for the two containers containing materials believed to be used to manufacture the drug Ice found in the Middeniya area.
The Police Narcotics Bureau stated that documents belonging to the two containers were found in a house where former SLPP Pradeshiya Sabha member Sampath Manamperi was staying.
The owner of the house is also a resident of Middeniya. Police say that the suspect’s mobile phone and several bank cards belonging to Sampath Manamperi were also found in the possession of the person.
However, Sampath Manamperi’s lawyers stated before the court on the 17th that Sampath Peri was not involved in clearing the two containers suspected of being raw materials used to manufacture the drug Ice from the port or bringing them to Middeniya.
Investigating officers have confirmed that Sampath Manamperi had been in contact with organized criminals Backo Saman, Kelbaddhara Padme and Tambari Lahiru via WhatsApp.
