Ranil’s case to recall in January

The case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, alleging that he used government funds to go on a private trip to attend a graduation ceremony held at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK, was taken up at the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (29).

Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Neththi Kumara today (29) ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to promptly complete the relevant investigations into the case and produce the suspects involved in the incident, if any, before the court.

When the case was taken up today, the Magistrate issued another order to the Criminal Investigation Department, asking it to investigate whether there has been any contempt of court in the incidents that occurred in the past few days.

The case is scheduled to be taken up again on January 28.
