The Public Service Trade Union Federation has requested President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to formulate laws to set the minimum salary of a semi-public and private sector employee at Rs. 50,000 in the upcoming budget and to provide a salary increase of not less than Rs. 20,000 to public servants.
The said trade union federation has also requested the President and Finance Minister Anura Kumara Dissanayake to re-enact the public servants’ pension scheme, which was abolished in 2016, in the upcoming budget.
The General Secretary of the said trade union federation, P.S. Shanthapriya, has made this request in a special letter addressed to the President.
The letter has been addressed to the President based on 7 specific points, requesting that solutions be provided to the problems of public servants in the upcoming budget.
