Professor Nalin de Silva, a physicist, philosopher and political analyst, has passed away at the age of 79. He was a professor at Kelaniya University’s Mathematics Department and also held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Science.
Born on October 20, 1944 in Panadura, Sri Lanka, he was educated at Vekada Bauddaloka Maha Vidyalaya, Thurston College, Colombo and Royal College, Colombo.
He entered the University of Ceylon in 1962, graduating with a first class honors degree in Mathematics in 1967, and in 1970 he obtained his PhD in theoretical cosmology from the University of Sussex.
