President warns Adani

No matter what kind of agreement is reached, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that his government will not allow Adani to build the wind power plant until it agrees on the price. He made this statement while addressing a public rally held in the Veniyadara area of Matara.

He pointed out that the relevant agreement was to sell a wind power unit to the Sri Lankan government for Rs. 25 and that the former President himself had asked to act in accordance with that agreement.

Although the former President had said that stopping this wind power project was a crime, Mr. Dissanayake said that the crime was to carry out this project at these prices.

It is noteworthy that the President made these comments at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to pay an official visit to Sri Lanka on April 4.
