President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is in the United Arab Emirates to participate in the 2025 World Summit, met with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah today.
The Sri Lankan President pointed out to the Kuwaiti Prime Minister that the potential for investment and tourism sectors has expanded at a time when political and financial stability in Sri Lanka has been established.
The two sides focused on strengthening trade and diversifying the market between the two countries, and the importance of finding new strategies for this purpose was also discussed.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, for the support provided by the State of Kuwait to Sri Lanka in obtaining a loan facility from the International Monetary Fund.
The President pointed out that there are about 155,000 Sri Lankan workers in the State of Kuwait, from which the country receives a foreign remittance of US $ 700 million, which is a great strength for the Sri Lankan economy.
