Preparations to sign several agreements during President’s visit to Vietnam

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism has issued a statement regarding the visit to Vietnam by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

It states that the President will be on a state visit to Vietnam from the 4th to the 6th of May.

During this visit, the President is scheduled to hold official talks with the Vietnamese President and Prime Minister and is scheduled to meet a number of senior dignitaries including the General Secretary of the Communist Party, the Ministry said.

The President is also scheduled to attend the United Nations Vesak Day celebration in Ho Chi Minh City as the chief guest, and the President is scheduled to deliver a keynote address, the Ministry statement said.

It is also expected that several MoUs will be signed between the two sides during this visit and the President is also expected to engage with the business community, it said.

As this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations, it is expected that the visit to Vietnam will further strengthen the strong ties between the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, and a group of senior government officials are also scheduled to participate in this visit along with the President, the Ministry further stated.
