Power outages in several areas

A large tree has fallen on the 33,000V high-voltage power system extending from Hatton to Senclair in Talawakelle, causing severe damage to the high-voltage power line system. As a result, power has been cut off in many areas, said Nimal Samarakoon, Electricity Superintendent of the Hatton Electricity Customer Service Center. He further said that the ongoing rain and strong winds have hampered efforts to cut down the fallen tree and restore power.

Our reporters say that such power outages are common in the western slopes of the central mountains due to the rainy and windy weather conditions prevailing these days.
