Education Minister Susil Premajayantha says that the government is currently spending 26 billion rupees to provide school lunch to 1.7 million children, even though some have made popular statements on political platforms that lunch should be provided to all school children.
He said this while attending the opening ceremony of the new six-storied hostel complex built for the students of the German Institute of Technology.
He emphasized that at the moment the government is providing lunch to all students studying in the primary grades, and politicians who claim to provide lunch to all school students in the island should consider the practical situation.
