A Sub-Inspector has been arrested on charges of having close ties with organized crime gang member Kehelbaddara Padme. Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wutler said that the suspect has been arrested by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The Police Media Spokesperson stated that the Sub-Inspector in question is attached to the Gampaha Divisional Crime Investigation Division.
The Criminal Investigation Department is currently detaining and interrogating five members of the criminal gang, including Kehelbaddara Padme, who were arrested in Indonesia, after they were brought to the island recently.
It is reported that the suspect Sub-Inspector has been arrested based on information revealed during the interrogations.
