Police sources say that the police constable who attempted to molest a female police constable of the Makulugaswewa Police Station on the 15th and attempted to sit on her lap has been suspended.
The police constable was deployed for duty at a music concert held at the Dambulla Gamudawa Stadium and the incident occurred when he arrived at the Makulugaswewa Police Station to report for duty. The constable was drunk at the time.
The constable then took steps to complain about the incident to the Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of the area through the OIC.
Accordingly, following the investigation into the attempted assault of a female police constable and being drunk on duty, the Assistant Superintendent of Police has decided to suspend the police constable and conduct an investigation.
