After part of a Boeing 737 Max 9 belonging to Alaska Airlines crashed in mid-air, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered the rest of the Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft to be immediately landed and inspected.
Its chief air traffic controller said that these inspections could affect about 171 aircraft.
An Alaska Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing after taking off from the US state of Oregon on Friday.
A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said that some aircraft may even be taken out of service after this inspection. It is reported that about 60 flights are likely to be canceled during the weekend as it usually takes about four hours for such an inspection.
